104 - You Say Potato…

I must say I used to love “The Boids!”. To me, it was an humorous webcomic centered about birds (and I love birds!), and their special boid friend. A clash of nature and technology, that is - in which both love for nature and love for humorism meet and join perfectly!

However. I really stopped liking “The Boids!” once it turned into a bad copycat of “The Inexplicable Adventures Of Bob”. What has happened to this comic? It’s not anymore the “humorous webcomic centered about birds (etc. etc.)” that I loved. It’s become your average and uncreative sci-fi action comic with a bit of humour and a very bad plot.

Out of the warp? I’m sensing some intertextuality with the Warhammer 40k universe here, hummm…

Anyways, great job you two! You’re still doing this together Larry and Steve, right?

    exactly what lun-sei said
    where are the other guys??

The art has definitely gotten more attractive in this recent story arc. I like the story just as much as before, although I’ll admit I was a Trekkie for many years. To me, it’s a short break from the norm, and I know we’ll find out what’s new with the other Boids soon enough. I figure they probably aren’t doing too much at the moment, mostly trying to find out where Boid went.

well, i’m pretty new to the strip, so i don’t know the backstory. i def appreciate the artwork and find it visually stunning. i also come from a sci-fi/trek background, but from the perspective of someone new jumping on board, i’m a bit lost. but i’ve learned that in the last panel or two, regardless of the jargon, it “dumbs” it back down to something humorous. it’s a matter of how humorous…

Therius - Yep - Steve’s writing and I’m drawing, still!

On the sci-fi story arc - we knew going in we were leaving the initial premise of “a robot bird in the real world of birds”. We went with it anyway because of the multitude of ideas Steve had and how much more developed Boid (and the other guys) will be by the end of this arc. We haven’t forgotten Harmon and Nelson, or Dent and the Flock, so hang in there.

Since this is a strip done for the love of it, we have to have fun, too!

  7. Maverick Says:

Well i have been here from the start, and personaly, i love it still! Yes Boid and the flock had a great arc going, but every story has to have different arcs thrown in. It challenges to creators to write for and draw different things and keeps us, the reader, interested. I think this arc is also great and visually amazing. And ok, some people may not like it, but then, Larry and Steve are only human (we think…) and can’t please everyone. If you don’t like the story line, at least stay on board and apriciate the artwork till there is story line you do like.

    Maverick-
    i couldn’t have said it better!!!!! :)
I also have been here from the begining, and I also have enjoyed it, from the black-on-white line strip too colored four panels! All 104(at this moment) comics have been enjoyable, and if you don’t like it, don’t complain or don’t read, or, like Maverick said, wait till an arc comes that you do like!!!!
Thanks for all the laughs, Steve and Larry(or is it Larry and Steve?Anyway good job!)
