35 - Hide and Peek
Hey, this storyline is rolling along nicely! Steve (of course) writes the strip, but he also provides rough layouts for the occasional strip. The quickie doodle he provided me for today’s strip was awesome - he has a great sense for staging things - so I wanted to give him props!
On a side note, some of you may remember a HUGE project I completed just prior to starting up The Boids - Dog Each Day. I drew a dog each day for the 385 days of the Chinese Year of the Dog and published daily on the ‘net. I collected all the art and the wonderful stories submitted from that site and published a book. It’s now available, and I must say, the on-demand-printing service Blurb.com did a great job! Anyone interested can check it out at
Blurb Bookstore, Dog Each Day Book

It has been said (by members of this comment community even) that Larry should have a gallery show to get his art out to the world. I agree. He is an awesome artist. After watching him pound out dog after dog to meet his self-imposed “dog each day” deadline I am amazed at the discipline and drive that this project took. Add that to the fact that he had just done the same thing with monkeys in 2004 for the Chinese Year of the Monkey and you have more than 730 individual drawings of animals. But, as the monkeys were based mostly on book or web reference photos, the dogs all come with stories sent in by owners, companions, and families. It is impossible to read this book without crying from either grief or joy, especially if you are, like me, a dog person. It is a book worth owning and I can’t wait for my copy to arrive.

Cute strip today. Nicely done.
I’ve never checked out Blurb before. Is it better than Lulu?
August 10th, 2007 at 4:51 pm
Wit - Well, Blurb was better for what I needed. My book is 388 pages, full color and landscape format and Blurb was the only solution I could find. Lulu only does portrait! I must say I am very happy with the print quality of the books. If you ever need any extra info, email me at larry at theboids.com.

Larry & Steve iz best webcomik team ever. Turnsignals, Boids, Toyzville, E9M…. Dem guys bring da funny good ‘n’ proper. Keep dem strips coming! B-Wald agree larry should have big shiny gallery for all da pictures.
P.S. If you’se ain’t seen E9M (every nine minutes), one of Steve’s other strips. go see it now. Iz wicked-funny. There’s even a link right over THERE —->
P.S.S. Christina should take medicine. Make mind work good!

B-Wald reccomend Vaxadrine. If U watch the “Colbert Report”, U know what B-Wald is talking about. Colbert is funny, but he stole Steve’s “FREEM” laser-beam sound-word. Colbert’s first name also Steve, maybe that why he likes freem-word.

Oi, Bodilicious: Methinks the ‘ping’ the scientists sent out a few strips back knocked out the renegade boids. BOID-boid wasn’t affected, cuz, well, he’s BOID! Anyhoo, Boid is chillin’ in the tree watching the scientists pick up the deactivated boids, and hides just as the orange-haired scientist (I think his name was Mike) looks up.

You know, blaming the internet for all your problems is OK.
August 16th, 2007 at 5:18 pm
Internet cause lots of problemz!! B-Wald just trying to help…. Sorry B-Wald spelled name of Crisitina wrong. Not B-Wald’s fault, though! B-Wald actually illiterate, and actually writes posts using telepathic interpreter typie-man.
