29 - Flock Shock
Good morning citizens! I’m back on patrol, although not as fast as I was two weeks ago. I am assured by the doctor that the unmentionable agony WILL dissipate in the next few years. I am looking forward to it. As I’m sure you all are looking forward to Larry’s awesome artwork. So stop reading this and look up. LOOK UP NOW!
Okay, now that you’ve gotten your Boid Fix I must tell you: when Larry and I first set out to “make it” in the comics business there were no “web” comics. There was almost no web at all. We worked up a paper comic book idea called “Deadline” about a guy who get turned into energy. At one point, when he’s learning to control his powers, he’s flying all over the energy universe and he yells (to himself) “I’m having trouble controlling myself!” Larry often brings this line up to remind me that I have a lot to learn about being a writer. So in honor of our humble beginnings, and my lack of talent, I incorporated the line into our latest product. Ah, the memories…
PS-Dark Horse almost produced our super-hero comic, but the editor we were given to didn’t like super-hero comics. The End.

Hey Campbell, hope the foot heals well for you! Just watch out for evil phantom foot stampers! lol
Seriouslyis there any scope at all that you’ll ever get hardcopy merch (i.e. annuals) for the boids or turnsig? I know there’s a fair bit to go before you have enough of the boids but the thought is cool.

Hey Discostu, there are definite plans to print BOIDs The plan to print Turn Signals is a little more iffy considering I have to deal with the soulless, global corporation that is Games-Workshop. But we’ll see.

sorry but im a little confused…. the flock breaks the glass where the scientists are sitting.. but in the last panel they’re flying the other way… did they break it on both sides or something?

Great comic and awesome concept! I’m not sure how the saying goes of art imitates life or vice-versa but I saw this article on robotic birds and immediately thought of BOIDS!

Cristina - sorry for the confusion - some of the boids crash the window and fly back out. They aren’t flocking and aren’t under any control at this point.
