23 - Black Snow
We don’t have the dreaded “Black Snow” where we are, but my Dad used to at his house. One minute everything is green and normal, and the next WHOMP! the ground is totally obscured by black birds. My Dad hates Starlings, probably since they made off with tons of bird seed meant for the “cute” birds, but I think they are kind of cool, and probably one of the most fastidious birds I’ve seen. That means “clean.” They, and the grackles and blackbirds they hang around with, routinely drain our birdbath by splashing all of the water out while bathing. Plus the parent birds work like dogs to feed their constantly-screaming children. As such i feel a certain “connection” with them.

i also love the outlines of the starlings, and the “‘allo”. query(s):is this going to be a storyline, and which bird in the flock is which? how do u thell them apart(i know they have different shading around the eyes, but i need more then that!!!)

boidiliciose - I TRY and make Harmon and Nelson distinguishable from each other. Harmon has one “mask spike” around his eye and Nelson has two. Nelson is also more rotund than Harm and has an extra black patch on his chest. Unfortunately trying to distinguish one bird from another out of a flock is tough - that’s why they get tagged when studied! Glad you like the comic - and most of us here love Wally and Osborne, too!

Black Snows(tune to Black Socks)
Black Snows, Black Snows
The Longer you feed them the fatter they get
Something tells me to stop feeding them .
But I say,:Not yet, not yet, not yet..
I have to laugh at that one!
Great Comic!

We have masses of starlings here. I actually think they are very pretty. They have irridescent feathers that resemble black opal. They are also one of the smartest birds out there as they are closely related to crows and ravens. I also have a thing for underdogs, and as nobody really likes them, I do!

Cool starlings in the last panal. Kind of reminds me of crows, only much more menacing and annoying.
