Build A Boid!

That’s right - build your own life-sized Boid in only a few minutes. With a little paper glue, a hobby knife and a ruler, you too can own your very own Boid! It’s a little tricky, but my son put one together without any assistance and did a fine job. This is a jpeg file for you to save to your computer and print out on thick paper.
Now two different plans! The standing Boid and the Flight Mode Boid!
If you can’t open it, you’ll need Adobe Reader.

It will be nice to have a Boid in flight config so we could make a flock of them and hang them form the ceiling.

I made my Boid and it looks great on my bed!
Although, the tail’s kind of loose on mine . . .

Phizlo - Yeah, I need to try something else to strengthen the tail. I just stuck a toothpick halfway into the..um…gap that’s at the base and added a little piece of tape over the toothpick to attach it under the tail. Works well …

Cam - Sure thing! Just put a paper-thin sheet of titanium into your printer and print the file above!

Didn’t realise there was a plan to build a flight model, so I made a template for one myself. It works pretty well, if you’re interested I could send it for you to have a look at?

Boid sits on the cupboard used to store toner cartridges in the IT department of the school where I work as a technician, in clear view of all staff or students who enter the room.
Its been there for months, and noone has asked about it yet.
