Let the storm of recrimination begin!
March 30th, 2007Okay, so we’re going to be late. I hope that doesn’t affect any of your plans. It certainly screwed ours up, I can tell you. Our new launch date looks like May 7, unless some miracle occurs and we hit April 30. We’ll keep you posted.
Personally, I hate these “oh, so sorry we’re late” blog-whines (blines?) but we had it in our hearts to launch on 2 April. Events conspired against that, meaning that things got busy for both of us and we don’t want to rush our product. Larry is still working the kinks out of his birds and I’m continuing to write hilarious, award-winning comedy jokes, so it’s still going to be a good comic, just not for a while yet. And just ’cause I hate ‘em don’t mean I don’t need them from time to time, like this time. Thanks for hanging in there and for the comments. Your support is definitely the bread on our cartoon sandwich. (Jeez, i just had to look up the spelling of “sandwich.” It’s been a long week…)

Hey Aelix. Our initial plan is to start with a Monday/Thursday update, and increase our frequency as we get going. We didn’t want to start out too ambitious and fail (and have to put up even more “waa, we’re late, waaa” messages). We’re also going to start with a big chunk of comics, like 6-8 on Day One, so that everyone can get a good look at the comic from the beginning.

What’s the theme of the comic? A paper bird makes friends with real ones? Also, how many people are working on this?

Uh, Nate? Our premise is more or less explained in the second post on this ‘blogumentary’ and as for the Boids staff, it’s just me and Larry, and our wonderful families who support us while we are off cartooning and otherwise slacking off. Okay, a recap: 1. Boid is a mechanical bird, built to study bird flocking behavior. 2. He escapes and seeks out real birds to flock with. 3. Hilarity ensues.

Lots going on in the development of Boids, but mostly just drawing the strips now. Which is why I haven’t posted artwork, because we want to save the strips for the actual launch! I’ve been working on the website design and locking that down as well. Looking good for a May 7 start date, so that schedule shouldn’t slide anymore… YAY! I’ll post a few new character sketches shortly…
