My favorite comics follow a similar format. Sure the jokes are not always LOL funny, but they exist. Not to say there won't be some cliff-hangers and poignent moments either. But these characters will grow and change as time goes on, so I hope that the story being told behind the jokes is the one people come back for. This is my challenge. So here it goes. The scenario you describe sounds so perfect for one complete STORY rather than a strip. It's a bit like a classic "fish out of water" story. I'm sure a strip would be enjoyable and funny, but I'm afraid the idea you described above will just be a setup that gets you to the gags. That, I think, would be a mistake.
